Great tarp. We use it for canoe tripping and it packs up very small and is light to carry.

A three metre tarp is one of those essentials that all outdoor enthusiasts ought to have in their kit – they just have so many uses. The British Army has known this for years, and the famous “basha” is essentially the same thing as this: a large piece of waterproof fabric with attachment points. The beauty is in its simplicity and versatility – there’s nothing to go wrong and it can be configured into hundreds of different things as the need arises. The Aussies call them a “hoochie”

Used as a simple pitched roof, supported by adjacent trees and pegged to the ground at the sides it forms an open ended waterproof shelter. (a Goretex bivi bag is optional, but recommended in stormy weather) It can also be stretched out horizontally a couple of feet off the ground and form a rain proof sleeping shelter for eight people with this 3m x 3m version. Pitched over a hammock it creates a very comfortable rain / insect / snake proof jungle or woodland shelter. In an emergency, and with the addition of some rudimentary lashed poles, it becomes a stretcher. On a raft it can form a sail. Stretched over the damaged section of a holed sailing boat it can prevent you losing the craft. On a sunny day it becomes a sun shade. On a shoot it creates a hide. For anglers it forms a rain and wind break. In desert conditions it can become a large solar still. The possibilities are literally endless, and that’s why it’s so very useful.

This OneTigris version is very well made. Cheap and horrible products exist out there, but this is not one of them. Rather than save a few pounds on a cheaper thing that won’t last, I always believe in investing in good quality outdoor gear because in tough situations you might be needing it to help save your life!

The fabric here is 40 Dernier ripstop nylon, which gives a good compromise between weight and toughness. I have a 40D tent that’s over 25 years old and it’s still going strong. The original army issue version is more like 100D but smaller at 2.5m x 1.8m – even so it weighs more than this one at around a kilo. If you’re not off to a war zone then 40D will in all probability be all you need, it will give you greater coverage and weigh less too.

The coating here is really good, and despite being thin the fabric is impervious to water, which just beads off. A good test of a tent fabric is to hold it up to your lips and suck hard. The more air you can draw through it the more permeable the fabric. It’s impossible to suck any air through this one, which is a very good sign. All the seams are well made and the corner loops are well stitched, with useful additional aluminium rings. Basically there are plenty of attachment points to rig it however you want, and they’re all well made and reinforced. It’s a shelter you can feel confident with, even in strong winds.

Bundled with the tarp is a bag of red guy lines, and the whole kit fits snugly into a bag that itself has four useful attachment loops. The only thing you need to be careful of is to be rigorous when you fold your tarp back up. Make sure it’s rolled tightly, or you won’t fit it back inside the bag! If you placed an order I recommend you also purchase a bag of lightweight tent pegs – they’ll come in handy. All-up packed weight is 754 grammes, and it measures 300mm long x 100mm diameter in the bag. The colour is a pleasing woodland green, which in real life looks exactly like the photos in the listing.

This is a high quality tarp / basha that combines good materials with excellent construction. It’s highly adaptable and the fabric is very well treated. Take care of it and It ought to give you many years of trouble free use. Now a part of my own outdoor kit, I can thoroughly recommend it.

I was supplied with sample product in exchange for my honest and unbiased appraisal. All words and views are my own.

I am so pleased with my tarp.! This review is long overdue. I haven’t actually been able to use it yet because I’ve been ill, but based on my inspection of it–the material, its well-reinforced seams and the generous amount of attachment points–this tarp looks like it will become a regular part of my outdoor gear!
Customer service was excellent and the tarp arrived sooner than I’d expected. I’ll update this review when I’m actually able to get outdoors and try it, but so far I’m very happy with it! Thank you–Stella

    Review Update:
As I predicted, this tarp has turned out to be excellent! The 70D material and Teflon coating makes it impervious to rain and in strong winds it has held out fine. Also, because of all the attachment points, it can be configured into so many ways. I’m really happy with it and I have yet to find a tarp of this quality for the same price. Thank you! Stella

I ordered this One Tigris 10×10 tarp on March 25th and received it today April 11th. Fast delivery considering it is coming from China. Great quality. They were nice enough to throw in a bag of stakes and guide lines for the tarp. I had inquired about them because most stores include them, so they threw them in the package. The mosquito hammock is also great quality I didn’t buy the kit, as I didn’t need the pot set. I ordered separately on the same day. I would recommend these products and buy again for the price they are great quality. I will do an update this summer or fall once I get to use them.

I ordered this tarp on May 16 2017, it is now June 17 2017, and I still have not received the order. Sent 2 emails and got no where with those, I would tell everyone wanting a tarp to find a company in the USA, pay a little more and get your order, wish I had this to do over……I would be much happier than I am now. Buy from America dealers selling products made in the USA.
